The redfaction.com domain is active once again.
THQ has the official Red Faction website back up but for whole new reason; Red Faction: Guerrilla! Red Faction: Guerrilla is a multi-platform video game in development by Volition, Inc. to be published by THQ, and set to be released before Q1 2009. On February 20, 2008 during Game Developers Conference '08, THQ revealed the game would be an "open world" shooter. The story takes place 50 years after the original Red Faction. The EDF who came at the end of Red Faction has stayed and Mars has been dominated by the EDF. Then a guerrilla movement has occurred, resulting in all out war between the miners and civilians on mars, and the EDF. The games goal is to cause as much damage to the EDF as possible, forcing them to leave the district, but they can come back later. It will be a sort of ebb and flow type of warfare.THQ has stated in an interview with Game Informer that they will take GEO-Mod to the next level. Not a whole of of information in there but at least it is an official confirmation that there will in fact be a Red Faction 3 and with Volition doing the work for it; it should be the quality that the original Red Faction turned out to be only with a whole new revised Geo-Mod gaming engine with superior graphics. Start saving your money people because chances are this Red Faction won't run on most of the systems you are playing the first Red Faction on! Thanks to DeathFactory on the forum for bringing this to my attention. |

The bad thing about RF3 is it will be in 3rd person. Not an FPS. Hopefully someone will mod the game to allow first person or at least a console command for first person. (RF1 has a console command for 3rd person).

what you mean with 3rd person. It`s still a game where you can shoot everyone nd u controle someone(1 person), right ?

Third person is like looking over the shoulders of the character instead of through the eyes of the character. You should still be controlling only one person at a time. See the screenshot below for the original RF in TPS camera mode.
I don't know if I like that very much though. Red Faction just feels like it needs to be an FPS. Attached File ( Number of downloads: 662 )

WOW my log in still works.
Any way, let's hope that they listen to our cries for an option to be able to play in in First Person Shooter, at least in multiplayer. On single mode I wouldn't mind third person, since I wouldn't really be fighting real players. |

Initially playing a game in 3rd person can be tricky.
I am confident that players can make the transition. |

It will definitely be weird because I am pretty good at 3rd person games on CONSOLES, but never tried on PC for some reason.

I for one would have liked to see a new RF on the Source engine (used in HL2, CSS and others).
Of course the whishlist would be first-person and fully-moddable, including as Tank said some decent map editor. Let's all hope... |

The thing is they have this game engine with a fully destructible environment which nobody else has. Do you know how much better some of the games out there like HL2 and COD4 would be if you shot an explosive weapon or threw a grenade or C4 charge it it actually did damage to the surface it hit?
All these game designers going for the "realism" factor in FPS games and this is one of the biggest "realism" things left out in these games that nobody seems to want to implement in their gaming engines. Its crazy. |

Do we know if RF3 will use the Geo-mod technology like the first? Actually just looked it up and indeed. There's a small article on Wikipedia under Red Faction Guerrilla that says "they will take GeoMod to the next level." I'm sure there are others.
As for game engines and using geo-mod tech. I wouldn't mind seeing it on the Unreal game engine along with the Rainbow six series. Geo-mod on x360 or ps3 |

Looks like someone got some early gameplay on 1up.com and gave their "preview" along with a first few screenshots.
http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3167...=1&sec=PREVIEWS However, its hard to give the reviewer much credit since he claims Red Faction 2 multiplayer was awesome and it kept him playing for years... |

This is great news! Glad to see the original RF sites are still about to celebrate this very long wait for RF3. Dr@gon if RF3 is multi play, will you be running another server?

Since RF3 will be released for consoles first no there won't be a RED Editor. Kinda like the whole Halo Map debate. But yeah I'm looking forward to the new geomod tech but I hope people don't expect it to be exactly like rf1 because from the looks of it, it really has nothing in common especially concerning the overall game play. Hopefully they don't pussy out and they actually keep the vehicles in the Multi-player maps unlike the previous.
